The ideal length of any PhD is 3 years, however, it may take longer up to 5 or 7 years. You have to be prepared for that.

Duration

Research is a highly uncertain and random process. The results you expected would not be achieved. You have to have another backup plan for that.

Dealing with a PhD guide is also a tedious task. You have to be patient, obedient and regular. Your minor mistake may ruin your and your guide’s relationship.
