A hypothesis is a set of assumptions that are made based on observations. Here are various types of hypotheses.

In a given set of observations, no statistical relationships, significance or association exist between sets of observations or variables.

Null Hypothesis

The contradiction to the null hypothesis is the alternative hypothesis stating that there is some relation or significance between two sets of observations.

Alternative Hypothesis

The relation or significance between two or more dependent and independent variables or observations.

It is based on a given set of observations where one set of observations is dependent on another set of observations which is independent of other observations.
